Prof. Dato' Wira Dr. Haji Jamil bin Haji Osman
Prof. Emeritus Dato' Wira Dr. Haji Jamil bin Haji Osman is a prominent scholar, professor of Islamic Economics, pioneer of Islamic banking and finance in Malaysia, Rector and CEO of Insaniah University College. Prior to working at Insaniah, he served as Dean of Admissions and Records Division (1989-1999) and Deputy Rector Academic Affairs (1999-2003) at International Islamic University Malaysia. He was awarded the title of Dato' for three times (Dato, Dato Paduka and Dato Wira).

Prof. Dr. Bambang Sudibyo MBA. CA.
Prof. Dr. Bambang Sudibyo MBA. CA. is currently a Head of Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (BAZNAS), Republic of Indonesia. Besides, he is also a Professor at Department of Accounting, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Between 2005 and 2015, he served as a Head at Division of Economy, Central Board of Muhammadiyah.
Prof. Dr. Irwandi Jaswir
After completing his PhD, Irwandi joined International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) as an academic staff in 2001. Since then, Irwandi has held various administrative post, from Programme Coordinator, Deputy Dean (Students Affairs), and Deputy Dean (Research Initiatives) at Research Management Centre. In 2011, he received his Professorship and currently is appointed as the Director, International Institute for Halal Research and Training (INHART) of IIUM. Irwandi also serves as the Secretary, IIUM Council of Professor. His initial research began with his interest in lipid peroxidation and antioxidative activities of natural products. He then conducted studies on carotenoids and anti-cancer properties he started when he had 2-years fellowship in National Food Research Institute (NFRI), Japan, after receiving a prestigious Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) award. Currently, he is the principal researcher of 7 research projects, mostly in areas related to Halal Science, Food Biotechnology and Natural Products, funded by various funding agency such as the Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), and National Plans for Science and Technology (NPST), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Additionally, he is the co-researcher for another 14 on-going research projects. This is in addition to his 16 completed research projects where he was appointed as the principal investigator.
To date, Irwandi has chalked up a remarkable achievement in research which include: 75 scientific papers published in reputable international journals; contributed to 30 book-chapters; presented more than 150 research papers in international conferences – including keynote address and invited lectures; written more than 50 non-refereed and mass-media scientific articles. His dedication to research has enabled him to file 3 patents under his name, and his outstanding achievement is recognized both locally and internationally, bagging more than 60 scientific awards. Irwandi is a three-time recipient of IIUM Outstanding Researcher Awards. He is also the recipient of Asia Pacific Young Scientist Award 2010 by SCOPUS and the prestigious Habibie Award 2013 in the field of Medicine and Biotechnology.
He has recently received the most prestigious award from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, known as King Faisal International Prize 2018 award.
Prof. Dr. Dato’ Mohd. Azmi Omar
He is currently serving as a President and Chief Executive Officer at International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), Malaysia.
He previously worked as Dean of IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance as well as Professor at the Department of Finance, Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia. He also became a Deputy Rector concerning Academic and Research at the same alma mater from 2002 to 2008 during which the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance was established.
Dr. Ascarya, MBA, M.Sc
He is currently a senior researcher at Department of Islamic Economics and Finance, Bank Indonesia and is also managing director of Journal of Monetary Economics and Finance (JIMF) Bank Indonesia. Besides, he serves as editorial team of several Scopus-indexed journals including International Journal of Ethics and Systems (previously named Humanomics), Journal of Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance as well as various international and national journals among others Islamic Economic Studies—Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI), IDB.
His MBA in Finance and MSc in Management Information System are received from University of Pittsburgh, USA. He completed the Doctoral degree in Islamic Economics and Finance from IEF-Trisakti University, Indonesia.
Prof. Mohamed Aslam Bin Mohamed Haneef
He is a Professor at Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences and Director at Centre of Islamic Economics, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He gained the Doctor of Philosophy in Intellectual Parameters of Contemporary Islamic Economic Thought from University of East Anglia, Norwich.
He has been extensively carrying out several studies on contemporary Islamic thought encompassing Philosophy in Islamic Economics, Islamization of Human Knowledge as well as Waqf and Zakah.
Prof. Abdul Ghafar Ismail
He is a Professor of Islamic financial Economics and research fellow at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali and Islamic Economic Studies and Thoughts Centre (www.iestc.net). His previous experiences include as Head of Research Division at Islamic Research and Training Institute, Islamic Development Bank from 2013-2017 and Professor of Islamic economics at School of Economics, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia from 1987-2016.
Dr. Mustafa Omar Mohammed
He is currently a Head of Department of Economics at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). His master degree in Economics was received from the similar alma mater while his Ph.D in finance was completed in Universiti Islam Malaysia.
He has been conducting the seminal researches on Waqf and Zakah in relating to microfinance, poverty reduction, and SME’s enhancement.
Hilman Latief, Ph.D
Hilman Latief is currently a Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni as well as Head of LAZISMU.
He was born in Tasikmalaya, West Java. He completed his basic education at the Ma’had Darul Arqam Muhammadiyah, Garut, and pursued his undergraduate studies at the State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta (1999). He earned MA (Master of Arts) degrees from the Center for Religious and Cross Cultural Studies, Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, and from the Department of Comparative Religion, Western Michigan University-the United States of America in 2003 and 2005 respectively. He obtained Ph.D. (Philosophy of Doctor) degree from Utrecht University-the Netherlands in 2012. He was (2013) a research fellow at KITLV (The Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies/Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde). In 2014, he was granted Alumni Achievement Award from the School of Arts and Sciences, Western Michigan University. He has been a faculty member for many years in the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).
Dr. Anwar Allah Pitchay
He is currently a Head of Islamic Finance Program at Universiti Sains Malaysia. He joined the university after completing his PhD at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). His research interest is in the area of Islamic Banking and Finance, Non-Banking Islamic Finance Institutions (NBFI), Zakat as well as Waqf. He has published several articles related to NBFI in local and international journals.
Ir. Adiwarman Azwar Karim, MBA, MADP
He is a President Director of Karim Business Consulting, a consultant firm concerning Islamic Economics and Finance. He completed his master of business administration and master of arts in Economics from European University, Belgium and Boston University, United State of America, respectively.
Besides, he has been serving in Islamic financial institutions as Sharia Board including Dewan Syariah Nasional, Majelis Ulama Indonesia (1999-present); Member, Dewan Pengawas Syariah (Sharia Supervisory Board), Prudential Life Assurance, 2007 – present; Member, Dewan Pengawas Syariah (Sharia Supervisory Board), BNP Paribas Investment Partners (formerly Fortis Investments), 2007 – present; Member, Dewan Pengawas Syariah (Sharia Supervisory Board), UFO-Multi Level Marketing Company, 2006 – present; Member, Dewan Pengawas Syariah (Sharia Supervisory Board), HSBC Amanah Syariah Indonesia, 2003 – March 31, 2008, and many other institutions.
He has presented his seminal papers and researched on Islamic banking and finance in several international and national conferences. Also, he has published many books that pertain to Islamic Economics (Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, Islamic Microeconomics) as well as reputable academic journals and newspaper.
Dr. Mat Rofa Ismail
He is a currently a senior lecturer at Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia. He completed master degree in Mathematics from University of Wales, United Kingdom. While his Ph.D in Philosophy and Mathematics History was received from Universiti Malaya. Several studies he has been conducting encompassing Al-Qur’an and Science themes.
Jamil Abbas, MBA
Jamil Abbas is a finance professional with more than 17-years experiences in various industries, ranging from mining, manufacturing, IT, education and consulting. In 2013, he joined PBMT Group, an association of Islamic social microfinance institutions (the BMTs). PBMT Group currently has 561 BMTs across Indonesia as its active members, serving more than 2 million customers.
Jamil was the Head of Strategic Alliance of Jakarta-based PBMT Ventura, and the General Manager of PBMT Social Ventures, a Singapore based organization which aims to eradicate poverty in Indonesia and other parts of Southeast Asia by boosting rural community development through venture philanthrophy. He is also a member of Board of Trustee of Rahmania Foundation, a charity organization which focuses on helping the poor children in getting proper education.
Jamil earned his Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting & Finance from The University of Melbourne – Australia. In 2011, he completed his MBA in Islamic Banking and Finance, with Best Student Award, from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
Dr Imamudin Yuliadi
Dr Imamudin Yuliadi is now serving as Head of Economics Department, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. He has written several books in the field of Islamic Economics, Monetary Economics and Macroeconomics, to mention among others, Ekonomi Islam Filosofi Teori dan Implementasi, Perekonomian Indonesia Masalah dan Implementasi Kebijakan, Ekonomi Moneter, Ekonometrika Terapan dengan Program Eviews, Keuangan Islam, and Teori Ekonomi Makro Pendekatan Ekonomi Islam. Besides, he wrote many articles in academic journal both national and international level.
Yuli Utami, M.Ec
Yuli Utami M.Ec is currently a lecturer at Department of Economics and International Program for Islamic Economics and Finance (IPIEF), Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. She wrote many articles concerning Islamic social finance particularly Zakat and Waqf that has been published in academic journals.
ABDUL RAHMAN B.M.H.LLB (Hons)
ABDUL RAHMAN B.M.H.LLB (Hons) Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. Rahman graduated from the National University of Singapore with a LL.B (Hons) in 2008 and was subsequently called to the Bar as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in May 2009. Rahman is also a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians Singapore. Rahman actively engages in a wide array of practice areas. His key areas of concentration cover:
- Personal and commercial dispute resolution
- General commercial/corporate advisory work tailored towards small and medium enterprises;
- Family and Syariah law matters;
- Drafting of Nazars, Hibahs and Syariah compliant wills;
- A conveyancing practitioner; and
- Specific areas of criminal work when requested.
Rahman is also active in the Islamic Finance market. He has shareholdings in various Syariah compliant crowd-funding platforms, notably EthisCrowd and KapitalBoost. He has helped from the start go, having a major role in building the platform for these startups in terms of legal advise as well as giving important inputs on the regional and international finance markets.
